People often ask me if there is a magic formula for overcoming the fears that stop them from taking a step forward in their lives. While this isn’t exactly magic, this technique does work every single time.
Fear is overcome by action.
Sitting around ruminating or navel-gazing about your fears will do nothing to alleviate them. Be bold and take action. Do not accept your fear as being just the way you are, because you are much more than your fears.
Remember, fear – f e a r – stands for ‘false evidence appearing real’.
By taking action, by being in motion, you can make your fears subside. Even the bravest person has fears, but we call them brave because we see them doing something that would make us stop in our tracks.
Action – Always do feared things first. Share your concerns with a positive confidante and listen to their support. Create a ritualistic form of fear-busting, like writing the fear on a piece of paper and setting it ablaze. See fear as the natural response to the unknown instead of a block to taking action.
Remember, there is nothing to fear but fear itself.
